Director, Product Marketing

The Product Marketing team at Dave will play a critical role in driving the growth and engagement of our financial products. This team will be responsible for deeply understanding our members, defining how our products meet their needs, and communicating the value of Dave's offerings in a compelling way.As the Director of Product Marketing, you will lead a team to understand our customers and shape the strategy and execution of how we bring products to market and grow their adoption. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, Research, Marketing, and Analytics. This role is essential for ensuring that our products resonate with our members and achieve our business objectives.In this newly created role, you will report to the CMO and manage a small team of product marketers. Your impact will be both strategic and executional—building the foundation for scalable product marketing while influencing how we position our products in a competitive, fast-evolving market.What You’ll Do: Target Customer Identification and SegmentationIdentify the customers we are targeting in a sophisticated and granular way. Beyond demographics, this would include factors such as willingness to pay, attitude toward short-term credit, alternate options for short-term credit, feature preferences, attitude toward neo-banks, etc. Existing Customer SegmentationDevelop a segmentation of our existing customers based on activity, demographics, and category usage that can be utilized for targeting and creative messaging variations for activities such as cross-selling, onboarding, engagement, and churn mitigation. Competitive Insights and ActionMonitor and analyze competitive alternatives – including their overall strategies, detailed offerings, and messaging to maintain a competitive edge, differentiate our products, and ensure we have the right to win with our target customer. Opportunity IdentificationIdentify opportunities for new products and new customer targets by leveraging customer insights, analytics, and research to uncover unmet needs, frustrations, preferences, and motivations. Lead rigorous vetting of proposed ideas leveraging research, analytics, and testing. Company and Product PositioningHelp clearly define our market category and how we position both the company and our products within it compared to alternatives.Value Proposition and Messaging DevelopmentCreate and continuously adapt compelling value propositions for new and existing products, ensuring they resonate with rational and emotional benefits for diverse customer segments. This includes developing impactful names for new products that amplify their value propositions.What You’ll Need: 10+ years of experience in product marketing, including 3+ years managing or leading high-performing teamsA track record of influencing leadership and driving outcomes in fast-moving, ambiguous environmentsStrong ability to distill complexity into clear, actionable strategiesAdvanced skills in determining information needs and the most effective ways to obtain it for strategic decisions.Proven success in positioning consumer-facing products with differentiated messaging experiences using segmentation, research, and data to inform marketing decisionsAbility to identify market opportunities and product gaps to inform product development and feature prioritization.Comfort working cross-functionally with Product, Research, and MarketingB2C background required; Fintech experience (especially with lower credit score customers) strongly preferred.Don’t let imposter syndrome get in your way of an incredible opportunity.
