Director of Sales – Solar IndustryPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Sales to lead and oversee multiple solar sales teams through a group of 4–6 Sales Managers. This role is responsible for driving regional sales performance, building scalable sales systems, and ensuring consistent achievement of company revenue targets.

The Director of Sales will focus on leadership, strategy, and operational alignment, working closely with executive leadership to expand market presence, improve team performance, and maintain a high-performing sales organization.

The ideal candidate is a proven solar sales leader with strong experience managing multi-layer sales teams and delivering consistent growth in the residential solar market.

Key Responsibilities: Sales Leadership & Team Development
• Manage and mentor 4–6 Sales Managers, each overseeing their own teams of sales representatives
• Develop leadership capabilities within the management team
• Ensure consistent coaching, accountability, and performance management across all sales teams
• Foster a culture of high performance, professionalism, and continuous improvement

Sales Strategy & Growth
• Develop and implement sales strategies to drive regional revenue growth
• Set and monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
• Identify opportunities to expand market reach and improve sales productivity
• Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and sales forecasting

Performance Management
• Track and analyze key performance metrics across all sales teams
• Monitor pipeline health, conversion rates, and closing performance
• Ensure Sales Managers are effectively managing their teams and meeting KPIs
• Address performance gaps and implement improvement strategies

Sales Operations & Process Optimization
• Standardize sales processes, training frameworks, and operational procedures
• Ensure consistent use of CRM systems for lead management and reporting
• Work with operations, installation, and finance teams to ensure smooth project execution
• Improve overall efficiency of the sales organization

Recruitment & Organizational Growth
• Support the recruitment and onboarding of Sales Managers and key sales personnel
• Build scalable systems to support team expansion
• Develop structured training programs for leadership and sales teams

Organizational Scope
• Direct oversight of 4–6 Sales Managers
• Indirect oversight of multiple solar sales teams through management leadership
• Responsible for overall sales performance across assigned markets

Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of solar sales experience
• 3+ years of sales leadership or management experience
• Proven experience managing multi-level sales teams
• Strong understanding of residential solar sales models (PPA, financing, and ownership)
• Demonstrated ability to scale sales teams and drive revenue growth
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience leading regional or multi-market solar sales operations
• Background in door-to-door, in-home, or field solar sales
• Advanced experience with CRM systems and sales analytics
