Director of Policy, Stealth Educational Startup (Remote) - $200,000/year USD

Remote Full-time
Are you passionate about revolutionizing education by increasing access to charter schools for thousands of students? Join our dynamic education startup as we seek experienced government relations experts in California, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.

Unlike typical government relations roles that aim for broad policy impact, this position is pivotal in driving our organization's growth. You'll secure charter school approvals in your state by forging strategic alliances with education authorities and local community figures.

Your mission is to cultivate and harness strong connections with state education officials and community stakeholders, ensuring our innovative school model reaches more students. This isn't about lobbying for policy shifts; it's about achieving tangible business results through targeted relationship-building and coalition formation in your area.

We're revolutionizing education with a model that produces remarkable outcomes. To scale our impact, we need someone who can dive deep into their state's educational landscape, navigate intricate approval processes, and forge the necessary alliances. You'll collaborate closely with state education leaders and rally community support to extend our reach to more students.

If you're eager to apply your government relations skills to expand educational access in your state, we want to hear from you!

What you will be doing
• Establishing and nurturing strategic alliances with state education officials, board members, and key decision-makers in your designated area
• Crafting state-specific strategies for charter approvals, guiding internal teams on local nuances and requirements
• Assembling diverse coalitions of parents, educators, and community leaders to showcase robust local backing for charter initiatives
• Designing and implementing comprehensive engagement plans for your state, maintaining active dialogue with key stakeholders
• Utilizing relationships to gather informal insights and guidance during the application process

What you will NOT be doing
• Concentrating solely on policy advocacy or legislative matters without direct business outcomes
• Confined to a desk – this role demands proactive interaction with officials and community leaders
• Engaging in general education policy topics unrelated to charter school approvals
• Managing federal education policy or Congressional affairs

Key Responsibilities

Develop and utilize strategic alliances with state education officials to secure charter school approvals, facilitating the expansion of our schools within your designated territory.

Candidate Requirements
• Proven success as a state-level lobbyist or advocate, especially in obtaining approvals/licenses from state government entities
• Pre-existing connections with state education officials in target states
• Proven ability to form local coalitions to bolster advocacy efforts
• Reside in California, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina
• Prepared and willing to travel within the region
• Eligible to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship

This position is also known as:
• Director of Strategic Partnerships
• Director of Education Policy
• Director of Public Affairs
• Director of Government Relations
• Director of Advocacy
