Why This Role Exists
The Director of Nursing (DON) uses a multi-faceted approach to support TNAA & TotalMed’s mission of providing competent clinical professionals to TNAA & TotalMed clients. The DON collaborates with Clinical Services team members and other TNAA & TotalMed staff to ensure our travelers meet the highest quality standards through a rigorous clinical review process and onboarding, education of clients and travelers, ongoing support, swift resolution of issues, and clinical feedback analysis. The DON also serves as a clinical resource to all TNAA & TotalMed staff.
Works Closely With
The Director of Nursing works closely with internal departments, client facilities, and travelers on a daily basis.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Client Facilities, Account Managers, and Nurse Recruiters to ensure appropriate traveler assignment placement (e.g., review traveler applicants who have less than 2 years RN experience and/or do not have prior travel experience, recent non-acute care experience or other QA concerns such as negative reference, skill mismatch, etc.)
Review end of assignment clinical evaluations with travelers in accordance with TNAA & TotalMed Joint Commission requirements, and where appropriate, follow-up, determine and implement remedial training and interventions and complete reporting/filing requirements
Extend clinical support to travelers through coaching, counseling, and remediation to ensure safe practice, and the success of our nurses and safety of their patients
Assist the Clinical Liaisons with pre-employment orientation two weeks prior to travelers’ start date and with post-employment checks two weeks after start date
Ensure the termination process (e.g., Peer Review, rehire eligibility determination, etc.) is completed accurately and timely and that traveler information is reported to the appropriate Board of Nursing in adherence to TNAA & TotalMed Board of Nursing guidelines
Monitor traveler and workplace events for those that could increase the company’s risk; consult with Risk Management on issues/situations deemed high risk for the traveler, client, and/or TNAA & TotalMed; implement plans to decrease or eliminate the risk
Ensure the Peer Review process is completed
Serve as a clinical resource for all TNAA & TotalMed staff
Travel to client facilities as requested or required
Provide coverage for other Directors of Nursing and VP of Clinical Services, as needed
What You Bring
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of healthcare staffing industry, agency operations, and success drivers
Ability to effectively manage conflict and navigate highly sensitive, emotionally-charged situations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel
Highest levels of personal and professional integrity
Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced and complex environment and maintain a sense of urgency
Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with cross-functional coworkers
Education & Experience
5 years of nursing experience in an acute care hospital
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Multiple specialty areas or float pool experience
Multi-state licenses
Travel nurse experience
Comp & Benefits
$90,000 - $100,000 per year
