Come join us in building the future—together. ClickUp is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our Foundational Products Engineering organization. This role is critical to shaping the future of our core product features, ensuring scalability, reliability, and innovation as we continue to grow. About the Role As the Director of Engineering for Foundational Products, you will oversee a team of ~40 engineers and 4 engineering managers. Your organization will own key feature areas, including Tasks, Views, Hierarchy, and Templates , which form the backbone of the ClickUp platform. These are full-stack teams working on a modern tech stack: Frontend: Angular/TypeScript Backend: Various frameworks and technologies Database: SQL-based solutions Infrastructure: AWS You will be responsible for driving technical excellence, fostering a high-performing engineering culture, and ensuring the delivery of impactful product features. Responsibilities Lead and mentor engineering managers and their teams, ensuring alignment with company goals. Drive the technical strategy and execution for foundational product areas. Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to define and deliver on the roadmap. Oversee architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability. Be hands-on when needed, including during incidents and technical reviews. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Qualifications Proven experience managing managers and leading multiple engineering teams. Strong technical background with a history of backend engineering. Ability to contribute to technical architecture discussions and incident resolution. Experience with full-stack development, backend frameworks, and SQL databases. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a focus on collaboration and team growth.
