Director, Corporate Accounting (Remote Role)

In this high-visibility role, you will partner with leaders across sales, marketing, finance, IT, and legal, providing technical accounting expertise on various topics. You will ensure the highest level of compliance with U.S. GAAP rules. The Director, Corporate Accounting, will report to the Vice President/Controller.Key Responsibilities:Oversee day-to-day and monthly transactions and accounting for key areas, including fixed assets, cash, debt, prepaids, intangibles, payroll/benefits, inter-company, foreign currency, legal contingencies, misc. accruals, and reconciliationsLead monthly preparation of financials to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOXCollaborate with various stakeholders to evaluate and implement business initiatives and serve as a resource on accounting and internal control mattersPartner with FP&A and cost center owners to advise on accounting matters impacting budgets/forecasts to help make informed decisionsAdministrative owner for the company’s financial close and reconciliation software. Manage the close process to ensure the team stays on track with deadlinesEnsure proper governance over the company’s ERP system changesOversee monthly accounting, financial reporting, and annual audit for UK stat financialsPartner closely with Operations Accounting (AR, Inventory, & AP) and Revenue teams, as needed, to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOXIdentify and implement systems, tools, and process changes to streamline the work of the accounting function, reduce time to close, and provide better insightsImplement and maintain strong internal controls to meet public company audit standardsPartner with SEC and Tax teams to support tax provision, external reporting, evaluate, and implement new accounting pronouncementsLead external financial audit to ensure deadlines are met and ensure strong relationships with both external and internal auditorsRecruit, lead, and develop team by providing direction, coaching, and seeking opportunities for development; ensure team is pointed on achieving key outcomes through regular performance managementExhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and to assist with various ad hoc projects as neededAbout You: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting and with an active CPA licenseMinimum 10 progressive years of experience is required, with a mix of public accounting and consumer industries preferred4+ years experience leading teams, preferably in a corporate setting. Leading remotely is a plus.Public company experience, preferably in consumer-packaged goods, retail or related industry, with inventory and within a SOX environmentExcellent knowledge of US GAAPExcellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially ExcelMust demonstrate an ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, providing subject matter expertise to communicate and influence non-technical accounting business partners effectivelyMust be very organized, detail-oriented and able to work under tight timelinesHighly motivated, self-starter who manages projects end-to-end and has demonstrated a track record of getting results, organizing and prioritizing deadlinesStrong written & verbal communication skills; ability to simplify complex conceptsAbility to work extended schedules around key reporting deadlinesTravel to NYC may be required periodically for team building or key times of the yearPreferred Qualifications:Experience with NetSuite is preferredExperience leading accounting system implementations and process improvementsExperience supporting SEC external reportingFamiliarity with e-commerce, Direct-to-consumer, B2B business models (i.e. Amazon, Shopify, etc.)We'd love to have you apply, even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement. Our Total Rewards: The annual base pay for this position is $170,000 - $190,000 with eligibility for an annual bonus.
