About the Role:

The Director, Business Affairs at Disney Branded Television will play a pivotal role in shaping the negotiation strategy and business relationships for the DBT Animation portfolio. This executive-level position is crucial for maintaining the integrity and success of Disney's extensive content creation and platform distribution efforts, ensuring that all agreements are structured and implemented effectively. The role is integral to Disney Entertainment Television's mission of delivering groundbreaking storytelling and captivating audiences worldwide.

Responsibilities:

As the Director, Business Affairs, you will be responsible for leading and managing multiple specialties within the business affairs function. Your role involves significant independent judgment and decision-making authority, directly impacting the structure, negotiation, and implementation of a wide range of agreements. You will work closely with executives across The Walt Disney Company, ensuring that all business dealings align with the company's best interests. This role matters because it directly influences the success of Disney's content across various platforms, requiring strategic thinking, creativity, and strong leadership skills.
• Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and implement a wide range of agreements independently.
• Manage ongoing relationships and business management of deals.
• Collaborate with executives across Legal, Business Affairs, Finance, Labor, Creative, Production, Marketing, Ad Sales, Consumer Products, and Distribution.
• Compile and prioritize deal points from various business units, championing best practices.
• Oversee business aspects of original content, tent pole events, and ancillary areas.
• Advise and support senior executives on key business issues and rights matters.
• Assist with Business Affairs needs in other areas on an ad hoc basis.
• Inspire individual and business success by clearly communicating the "why" behind business decisions.
• Define strategies, expectations, and priorities to ensure team actions align with company success.
• Provide continuous coaching and feedback to build trust and ensure team potential.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Legal and/or Business Affairs for a major media company, league, or other sports entity.
• Experience structuring, negotiating, drafting, and implementing entertainment deals.
• Experience in the digital media and/or direct-to-consumer space.
• Superior analytical and writing skills with strong business and financial acumen.
• Strong negotiation skills, both individually and within a team.
• Ability to strategize and think creatively with strong problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Knowledge of digital media initiatives, platforms, products, and services.
• Professional, confident demeanor and a team player.
• Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision while exercising discretion and independent judgment.
• Must excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment.
• Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
• JD degree.

Additional Information:
• onsite 4 days a week in Burbank, CA

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $139,100 to $186,600 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
