Position Summary

As a Direct Support Professional - Remote Support, you will provide technology-enabled support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, primarily from a remote location, with some in-person support required as needed. You will work full-time on the 3rd shift and be responsible for monitoring the physical and emotional health of individuals, providing guidance on health, medication, safety, and daily living, and responding to safety concerns.

Key Responsibilities


Monitor the physical and emotional health of individuals served, gather information, and communicate observations to verbal and written documentation.
Provide guidance for individuals served in areas such as health, medication, safety, and daily living as outlined in their Individual Plans of Service (IPOS).
Respond to all monitoring system alerts within proper time frames, understanding how to assess needs and prioritize responses if multiple alerts trigger at one time.
Respond to safety concerns in-person as needed, including dispatching backup support when applicable.
Engage in real-time, two-way communication with individuals served as needed to respond to requests for support, emergency help, or social interaction.
Create accurate and timely records and submit a variety of reports, including but not limited to, incidents and daily progress.
Ensure the privacy and dignity of individuals served and report any suspected abuse or neglect.
Maintain confidentiality and respect the rights of individuals served.
Encourage the use of enabling technology to address outcomes as stated in the IPOS whenever possible.
Engage in the application of technology as a natural support for individuals served.
Provide ongoing training to individuals served to engage them in the use of supportive technologies.
Identify risk and behaviors that can lead to a crisis and use effective strategies to prevent or intervene in the crisis in collaboration with others.
Provide in-person support, involving essential functions of a Residential Support Staff, including but not limited to: assisting in meal preparation, cleaning, small home repairs, and light residential maintenance duties, administering first aid and treatments, transportation to and from community locations using agency-owned or personal vehicles.
Provide advocacy and empower individuals served to advocate for themselves.
Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as needed.
Provide on-call support, including after hours, in a rotation with the supervisor.


Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:


High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., human services, healthcare, education) preferred.
1-2 years of experience in a related field (e.g., direct support, caregiving, healthcare) required; experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use technology to support individuals served.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the rights of individuals served.


Preferred Qualifications:


Certification in a related field (e.g., CNA, CPR/First Aid) preferred.
Experience with enabling technology and supportive technologies preferred.
Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.
