Job Description: The Custodian is responsible for performing gondola and waste removal duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that building and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. Knowledge or willingness to learn proper cleaning techniques is essential. Duties/Responsibilities: Collect trash and replace garbage liners, clean garbage receptacles as required Ability to work between multiple locations Dust and cleaning of fixtures, walls, doors, and other vertical or horizontal surfaces as required Vacuum carpeted areas, mop tile and concrete floor areas as required Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs and any damages Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner Maintain janitorial and gondola equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition Proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications: The gondola technician reports to the Custodial Supervisor and cares for the Main building/facilities and equipment. Maintaining these responsibilities will help to ensure the health, safety and security of the public. Strong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments Ability to operate and use tools/equipment Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions Maintain a positive attitude Good client/customer service skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks Ability to work effectively independently or with a team Basic knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices, cleaning products and use Physical Demands: The Custodian position is a physically demanding position. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, lifting heavy objects.
