DevOps Architect
Description • Architect, design, and own the next-generation hybrid infrastructure that powers OffSec’s world-famous hands-on cybersecurity labs. You will translate high-level product vision into rock-solid, scalable, and secure architectures that can spin up thousands of isolated attack/defend environments on demand. • Lead the migration from legacy virtualization stacks to a modern, cloud-native platform. This includes selecting tooling, defining IaC patterns, and orchestrating zero-downtime cut-overs for a global student base that never sleeps. • Deep-dive into lab environment specialization: craft golden VM images, containerize vulnerable services, automate network segmentation, and integrate traffic generation so every learner feels like they’re inside a real enterprise breach scenario. • Act as the strategic technical authority for DevOps best practices across the company. You will mentor engineers, set coding standards for Terraform/Ansible, and champion GitOps workflows that keep velocity high and risk low. • Build self-healing CI/CD pipelines that package, test, and deploy lab artifacts to AWS, Azure, on-prem KVM, and bare-metal clusters. Your pipelines will gate releases with security scanning, cost controls, and chaos-engineering tests. • Design network architectures that balance realism with safety—think VLAN micro-segmentation, BGP anycast for global latency, and IDS/IPS taps that log every packet for later forensic analysis by students. • Automate everything that moves: autoscaling groups, spot-instance orchestration, golden-image pipelines, secrets rotation, cost anomaly detection, and SOC-2-compliant audit trails. • Collaborate daily with course authors, pentest SMEs, and product managers to translate pedagogical goals into technical specs. You’ll whiteboard attack chains at 9 a.m. and ship the supporting infrastructure by 5 p.m. • Establish SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets for lab uptime (target 99.9%). You will instrument Prometheus/Grafana dashboards, page yourself before students feel pain, and run blameless post-mortems that feed back into the roadmap. • Drive security-first culture: embed CIS benchmarks, enforce least-privilege IAM, and integrate vulnerability scanning so every lab is both hackable by students and bullet-proof against real adversaries. • Contribute to open-source projects that the OffSec community relies on—Kali Linux tooling, custom Terraform providers, or lab orchestration SDKs—keeping our brand at the cutting edge of infosec education. • Champion diversity and inclusion in hiring, code reviews, and architecture decisions, ensuring our global platform reflects the varied backgrounds of the 45-country team and the learners we serve.
