About the position The Dental Aide position at the Newberry Correctional Facility involves assisting the dentist in providing dental care to prisoners. This role is crucial for maintaining the overall operations of the dental clinic and may require working at dental clinics in other facilities. The position requires direct contact with prisoners and is located within the secure perimeter of a correctional facility. Responsibilities • Assist the dentist in providing dental care to prisoners. • Perform duties at dental clinics in other facilities as assigned. • Support the overall operations of the dental clinic. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent education. • For Dental Aide 6: No specific type or amount of experience required. • For Dental Aide 7: One year of experience equivalent to a Dental Aide 6. • For Dental Aide E8: Two years of experience equivalent to a Dental Aide, including one year equivalent to a Dental Aide 7. • Completion of a one-year program in dental assistance may substitute for the experience requirement. • Possession of a radiography certification from a program approved by the Michigan Board of Dentistry. Nice-to-haves • Experience working in a correctional facility setting. • Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology.
