Main Purpose of the Role
Here at Truphone we focus in providing the best customer experience possible across a wide range of products and services.
The eSIM Platforms team is Truphone's engineering team responsible for the development and lifecycle management of our telecoms SaaS products. Specifically, this includes Truphone’s Remote SIM Provisioning platform for the Consumer and M2M GSMA specifications, as well as an Entitlement server supporting Apple, Samsung and Google wear OS devices.
The team uses different technologies for the development of Truphone's solutions and organizes itself around Agile methodologies to manage our products' lifecycle, project management, quality assurance and improvement management. Truphone is a multi-cultural and multi-national company, with teams spread all around the globe, however the eSIM Platforms team is mainly located in Portugal. We value teamwork, great communication and collaboration skills, being able to work autonomously and taking accountability for the work we do.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Architecture and building database systems of high availability
Implement databases in accordance with best practices
Maintain existing databases, guaranteeing updates, security patches and releases.
Commission and install new database instances and customise existing
Automate recovery procedures, backup data and minimise database downtime
Provide proactive and reactive data management support to teams
Document database systems, policies, and procedures
Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
Monitor database performance, and implement changes when required
Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database
Skills and Experience Required:
Proven working experience as a Database Administrator
Expertise in relational DBMS (PostGreSQL, MySQL)
Expertise in non-relational database systems (MongoDB, ES) and analytics processing (Druid, Redshift)
Hands-on experience with database standards and database solution design
Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL
Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding
BS degree in computer engineering and/or relevant certification
Excellent attention to detail
Problem-solving and critical thinking
Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms
