Job Description:Location: Fully remote, Central Europe Time ZoneStart date: To be definedLanguages: English is mandatoryThe Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the overall health, security, and performance of databases, including tasks like database design, implementation, maintenance, backup, recovery, and security, while also ensuring data integrity and user access control.This position covers multiple database technologies such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, other open databases.Duties and Responsibilities:Provide support for all Database Hosting SDAs Design, install, configure and support database infrastructureAdminister and support database systems including storage provisioning, VM provisioning, patching and upgradingImplement backups, standby databases and monitoringAssist in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of database automation tasks using Ansible or any other automation toolPerform database clones using backups/snapshot/clone/replication technologyProvide support for setup/architecture including setup of monitoring, alerting and scripts/interfaces to Help Desk systemsManage NAS/LUNs for use with relational databases and related systemsCo-ordinate with Vendor Database Support for resolution of problems and incidents related to databasesPerform troubleshooting and performance tuning activities as requiredApply database patches, updates and perform upgradesAssist in the planning and running of disaster recovery testsPerform capacity management and reporting as requiredProduce documentation as requiredPerform support activities during planned maintenance windows outside of normal working hoursJunior Database AdministratorParticipating in database testing and validation activities.Supporting backup, replication, restoration and performance tuning tasks.Providing first-level user support and troubleshooting basic issues.Learning and developing expertise in database technologies.Assist in automation of routine DBA tasks.Database AdministratorRun disaster recovery and validation testsEnsure availability and security of all databases.Implement backup/replication of databases.Undertake performance tuning tasks to ensure optimal performance of databases.Implement, patch and upgrade all databases in coordination with database service users.Implement and maintain database automation routinesProviding guidance to junior team members.Senior Database AdministratorLead DBA initiatives for improving all aspects of the database service.Design and implement database security policies.Design and implement database backup, replication and restoration solutions. Plan, coordinate and execute database implementations, patching and upgrades.Coordinate database activities with junior team members.Provide guidance to junior team members.Required Qualifications & ExperienceExtensive Database administration experience, including upgrades and patchingGood understanding of one or more cloud services - Oracle (OCI), Amazon (AWS), Microsoft (Azure), Google (GCP), etc.Familiar with Cloud products such as Oracle Database Cloud, Oracle Exadata Cloud, OracleIntegration Cloud, Azure SQL database, Azure SQL Managed Instance and AWS RDS, etc.Extensive knowledge and support experience in three or more of the following products:Oracle ExadataOracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)Oracle DataGuardOracle RMANHigh availability solutions including SQL Server Always On technologyFailover Clustering (FCI), and Availability Groups (AG).Disaster recovery technologies including database mirroring and transaction log shipping.SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Analysis Services (SSAS), Integration Services (SSIS), and Master Data Services.Latest version of Oracle Enterprise Manager including installation, configuration, patching and upgradingSQL Server Replication technology including snapshot, merge and transactional replications.Database recovery procedures including the ability to recover user and system databases from failed processes and engine crashes.Experience in automating database administration activitiesGood scripting skills using Linux shell, PowerShell, Oracle, Transact-SQL and/or other automation toolsExperience with service management systems (ServiceNow or similar) and collaboration toolsExperience in integrating with Oracle Cloud products such as Oracle Oracle OVM administration and support on ExadataNetworking configuration on ExadataOracle Enterprise Linux or RedHat Linux administration and supportOracle Direct-NFS experienceExperience with Ansible or other automation technologiesExperience with NetApp NAS (or similar) hosting Oracle databasesExperience data storage virtualization technologies.Experience with Windows failover clusters.Experience with MySQL replication.Experience with Ansible or other automation technologies.Originally posted on Himalayas
