At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet.To support that challenge, we’re looking for a: Data ScientistJob DescriptionRole purposeLead data exploration and analytics initiatives by connecting and analyzing diverse data sources (trials, imagery, sensors, drones, satellite, …) to extract valuable insightsOwn end-to-end data analytics processes including extraction, processing, analysis, reporting, modeling, deployment, and visualizationDevelop and deploy automated data processing pipelines to streamline analysis workflows across multiple data sourcesApply predictive analytics, machine learning, and AI techniques to create innovative solutions that drive business valueCollaborate cross-functionally with Global and Regional stakeholders to deliver cost-effective, stable, and performant data science solutions aligned with business needsStay current with emerging data analytics and ML technologies, implementing new methodologies to enhance existing processesFoster a culture of innovation and creativity while enabling data-driven decision making through advanced predictive modeling solutionsAccountabilitiesMaintain and enforce data science best practices while collaborating with Product Biology, Digital, Data Quality teams on Statistical, Data Science, Digital and ML projects.Drive continuous improvement of Data Science methods through Regional and Global team coordination, particularly in transitioning to big-data agricultural applications.Create comprehensive documentation and deliver training materials/courses for new tools and data projects to end users when neededProvide technical support and expertise in Data Analytics, Predictive Modeling, Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI across European, Regional, and Global teams.Transform stakeholder requirements into actionable solutions through use cases, test cases, and iterative development of algorithms and tools.Develop and validate features by consolidating internal/external databases and working closely with different stakeholdersMaintain technical excellence through continuous learning in Data Science, Deep Learning, ML engineering, and AI while collaborating with MLOps/Product/Dev teams to deliver business impactQualificationsKnowledge, Skills, Education & Experience:M.Sc. or Ph.D. in statistics, Applied mathematics, Data Science, Machine Learning, computer sciences, physics, or natural sciences (e.g., biology, chemistry, agronomy)Deep expertise in data analytics applied to biology, agronomy, and crop protection, with strong proficiency in Python programming and package developmentComprehensive knowledge of Big Data technologies, cloud-based ecosystems, and database query languages (SQL), along with experience in version control systemsProven expertise in Machine/Deep Learning algorithms and related Python libraries, including model development, deployment, and monitoringFamiliar with building and deploying data pipelinesProficiency in BI tools (Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau, or Qlik Sense), with emphasis on Power BIDemonstrated ability to extract meaningful insights from complex, noisy data while maintaining high accuracy standardsStrong communication skills in English, with experience working effectively in diverse international teamsSelf-driven professional with strong problem-solving abilities, displaying autonomy and initiative while maintaining an agile mindset focused on stakeholder-oriented deliveryOther Behaviours Critical for roleShow autonomy, initiative, efficiency, problem solvingSyngenta Leadership CapabilitiesExecution and Results Orientation – Manages work performance to efficiently complete responsibilities.
