Job Title: Data Engineer Location: Hybrid - Within 35 miles of Tulsa, Oklahoma Department: Information Technology and Product Development Reports To: Sr. Director of Engineering Job Summary: The Data Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining robust data processing solutions within our healthcare analytics platform. This role focuses on developing T-SQL stored procedures, managing data transformations, and supporting our reporting infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings 2-4 years of hands-on experience with SQL Server and T-SQL development, with a passion for working with healthcare data. We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience with SQL Server database development and T-SQL programming. While knowledge of healthcare claims processing and reporting tools is beneficial, we provide comprehensive on-the-job training in these areas. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain T-SQL stored procedures for data processing and transformation Design and optimize SQL Server databases for healthcare analytics workflows Build data extraction and transformation processes using raw T-SQL Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions Support data quality initiatives and troubleshoot data processing issues Learn and utilize myDBR reporting tool for creating reports and visualizations Assist in developing healthcare claims processing workflows and data validation Participate in code reviews and maintain documentation for data processes Monitor and optimize database performance for large healthcare datasets Support ad-hoc data analysis requests from stakeholders Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field 2-4 years of experience in data engineering or database development Strong proficiency in SQL Server and T-SQL programming Experience writing complex stored procedures, functions, and triggers Solid understanding of database design principles and optimization techniques Experience with data transformation and ETL processes using T-SQL Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications: Experience with healthcare data, medical claims, or prescription claims processing Knowledge of myDBR or similar reporting tools Understanding of healthcare industry regulations and compliance requirements Experience with performance tuning and query optimization Background in data analysis or business intelligence Familiarity with Azure SQL Database or cloud platforms Knowledge of data visualization principles Who is SmartLight Analytics SmartLight Analytics was formed by a group of industry insiders who wanted to make a meaningful impact on the rising cost of healthcare.
