Data Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to work embedded within cross-functional delivery teams, owning product execution across complex digital platforms. About the Role We are seeking a Data Engineer for a contract role that will support the design, development, and deployment of data pipelines and infrastructure within a Databricks Lakehouse environment. This role will be instrumental in building scalable ingestion and transformation pipelines, enabling trusted financial reporting, and establishing a strong foundation for future analytics. Responsibilities Design and implement scalable data pipelines Build and manage data warehouses and data lakes Optimize data processing workflows Ensure data quality, reliability, and availability Implement data modeling and schema design Integrate data from multiple systems Implement data validation and monitoring Collaborate with analytics, AI, and product teams Support data governance and compliance efforts Requirements 3–4+ years of experience in data engineering Strong SQL and Python/Scala skills Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks Experience with cloud data platforms Knowledge of distributed systems (Spark, Kafka) Experience with data warehousing solutions Understanding of data modeling techniques Knowledge of DevOps practices for data systems Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking Ability to work in ambiguous, fast-moving environments Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills Detail-oriented with a focus on data quality and accuracy Ability to document work clearly and support knowledge transfer Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally Nice to Have Experience with DBT Experience with streaming platforms Experience with real-time data processing Knowledge of data security and compliance Exposure to MLOps BI tool integration (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) Why Join Robots & Pencils?
