With our recent $75M Series C funding, we’re growing fast to make AI accessible across all products.THE ROLEWe’re hiring our first Data and Analytics Engineer to establish and scale our internal data capabilities. This is a high-impact, foundational role where you’ll work across the stack—from ingesting and modeling data to surfacing metrics and insights that drive key decisions. You’ll be both the architect and analyst, building pipelines, defining metrics, designing visualizations, and translating complex data into actionable recommendations.EXAMPLE PROJECTSHere are the types of large initiatives you'll get to work on as the founding member of our Data and Analytics function:Unified cloud cost and margin analytics: Build end-to-end data pipelines to consolidate usage, cost, and margin data across all cloud infrastructure partners and customers. Customer behavior intelligence: Instrument data pipelines and reporting to provide deep visibility into customer activity, including models deployed and model usage patterns. + Work with RevOps to make this data accessible and actionable for the Sales team.Product growth framework: Design robust analytics infrastructure to track and report on key growth metrics: user signups, onboarding funnel performance, engagement, retention, and conversion rates.Campaign attribution and analytics: Build scalable reporting and attribution systems to measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts across channels and campaign types.RESPONSIBILITIESDesign and implement robust data pipelines to collect, transform, and analyze data from various sourcesEvaluate and select tooling and workflows to set up a scalable data environment that supports Baseten’s growthCollaborate with stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Finance, Marketing, and Sales teams to understand their goals and data needsDefine and model core business metrics that support decision-making and performance trackingCreate clean, intuitive dashboards and reports, ensuring data is easy to access and interpretEnsure high data reliability and consistency across systems and teamsEstablish best practices for data quality, testing, and documentationREQUIREMENTS5+ years of experience in a data, analytics, or BI-focused role with proven ability to translate business questions into analytical solutionsProficiency in Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automationExpertise in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and reliable data pipelines, with a strong focus on data cleanliness and integrityStrong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries for data transformation and analysisExperience working with modern data stack tools—for example dbt Labs, Airflow, Segment, Fivetran, BigQuery, and LookerSolid understanding of metrics relevant to B2B SaaS businesses with a PLG motionExcellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teamsAn ownership mindset: you’re excited to be the first hire in this role and to shape how data works at BasetenBENEFITSCompetitive compensation package (Flexible PTO, 401k, covered healthcare premiums).This is a unique opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing startup in one of the most exciting engineering fields of our era.An inclusive and supportive work culture that fosters learning and growth.Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.Apply now to embark on a rewarding journey in shaping the future of AI!
