Data Analyst

Washington State Hospital Association is seeking a Data Analyst to gather requirements and analyze healthcare discharge, quality, and financial data. The Data Analyst will be responsible for developing reports, dashboards, and providing actionable insights to support hospitals and the Association's members.ResponsibilitiesPerform data analysis and reporting to support Association staff and membersGather requirements from stakeholders and enhance analysis with additional insightsDevelop, prepare, and present specialized reports and dashboards for dissemination to Association members with the purpose of advancing the work at the state, hospital, and unit levelAnalyze data and provide various reports for different scenarios to reflect solutions/recommendations in response to anticipated and unanticipated fluctuations for membersInterpret data analysis and develop related communication to provide multiple constituencies an understanding of the analysisSupport monthly data collection process, and continuously address and clarify data related inquiries as needed. Perform routine data validation and integrity checks with fully documented processes to ensure highly reliable data accuracyDevelop new dashboards and visualizations to help communicate and clarify the dataDevelop appropriate methodologies for collecting, analyzing, and presenting dataEfficiently query and structure the data to be integrated in Tableau dashboardsCreate educational materials and conduct training on understanding data, analysis, and definition of the measures one-on-one and in groupsEngage members and staff through targeted communication, listening sessions, and online or in-person trainings to improve utilization of dashboards and other contentConduct individual project reviews, as required, to assess overall project quality, efficiency, and compliance with requirementsWork with customers to develop and understand product specificationsProvide technical support, including troubleshooting with usersSupport Association executive leadership with data analysis and logisticsIdentify opportunities for performance improvement through data analysis and address risks or potential issues that might impact Association membersRecommend innovative ideas, processes and/or procedures for enhancements, and modifications to improve existing systemsPerform other duties as assignedSkillsBachelor's degree in related field is required at the time of hireMinimum of one year data analysis experience in a professional office setting or equivalent internship and relevant coursework experienceProficient with database applications (Snowflake, SQL Server, or Redshift, etc)Intermediate skills in SQL (T-SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, etc.)Intermediate skills in visualization applications (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, etc.)Proficiency with open-source coding languages (Python, R, etc.)Experience working with APIsProficiency with a variety of information systems and data files, including large and complex files, analyzing file structure, using and creating file layouts, transforming raw data into finished productsAbility to work independently, with experience working in a team environmentDemonstrates strong conceptual and critical thinking skillsAbility to navigate a variety of technological and computer-based tools including printers/copiers, internal database and phone/web conferencesDemonstrate analytical and conceptual skills, knowledge of healthcare domain and clinical data sets and the ability to balance theory with practical realityMaintains a high degree of professional excellence characterized by sound independent judgment, initiative, and a high standard of ethicsPossess outstanding written and oral communication skillsPossess a strong attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize assignmentsStrong customer service orientation, with high degree of professionalismAbility to navigate a variety of technological and computer-based toolsComfortable giving and receiving feedback in a constructive manner to colleagues and supervisorsAbility to communicate and interact with people from diverse backgrounds in a sensitive and positive mannerAbility to deal simultaneously with several issues or problemsAbility to appropriately represent WSHA as necessary both verbally and in writingAbility to communicate professionally and effectively both orally and in writingAbility to provide quality customer serviceAbility to work collaboratively with colleagues, co-workers, and membersBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionLifeLTDHealthcare FSADependent Care FSA401k Safe Harbor2 plus weeks of Vacation9 Holidays2 Personal HolidaysTransportation allowanceEAPThe office is closed for a Wellness Week between Christmas and New Years.Company OverviewWashington State Hospital Association provides policies that help the health care systems in improving the health of each patient.
