Curriculum Developer (Pre-ETS / Transition Services / Project-Based Learning) – Houston Preferred

Description

We are seeking an experienced Curriculum Developer / Instructional Designer to support the development of engaging, hands-on lessons for students with disabilities (ages 14–22) as part of our in-person Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) programs.

Our organization, 4 The Future Consulting Group, provides transition-focused training that prepares students for life after high school through career exploration, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, and post-secondary planning.

We are specifically looking for someone who can design interactive, structured, and real-world learning experiences, not lecture-based content.

Project Scope (Initial Assignment)

We are starting with one sample lesson designed for in-person delivery.

Each lesson represents approximately 2–2.5 hours of instruction and will be used within a full-day schedule (morning and afternoon sessions).

Each lesson must include:

A fully scripted Instructor Guide (I Do / We Do / You Do format)

Student activities and worksheets

3–4 workstation-based activities (small group rotations)

A project-based or real-world application task

Clear timing, transitions, and facilitation notes

A structured 10-minute break (5 minutes for restroom/water and 5 minutes for a facilitated brain break activity)

Instructional Structure Expectations

Lessons should be designed for in-person engagement and include:

Movement-based activities

Small group interaction

Scenario-based learning

Opportunities for student voice and participation

A full instructional day consists of two lessons (morning and afternoon blocks) totaling approximately 5 hours of instruction. Focus Areas Lessons will align to:

Self-Advocacy, Job & Career Exploration, Workplace Readiness, Post-Secondary Counseling

Ideal Candidate

Experience in curriculum development or instructional design

Background in Special Education, Transition Services, or Workforce Development

Experience creating hands-on, project-based learning experiences

Understanding of diverse learners (Autism, ADHD, Intellectual Disabilities)

Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate content for high school students

Compensation

This is a fixed-price, project-based role.

The listed budget reflects an initial sample lesson. Rates may increase for ongoing work based on quality, alignment, and ability to meet program expectations.
