The CTY Educator - Be A Biologist! position at Johns Hopkins University involves developing and delivering engaging academic experiences for advanced learners in biology. Responsibilities
• Complete all required training and onboarding activities.
,
• Familiarize yourself with course manuals and resources.
,
• Plan in-class and out-of-class activities and assessments.
,
• Organize student-facing materials in Microsoft Teams and/or Moodle.
,
• Prepare the classroom space for the first day of class.
,
• Submit syllabus and required materials for approval.
,
• Deliver engaging courses featuring facilitated learning.
,
• Provide ongoing feedback to students within 48 business hours.
,
• Administer pre- and post-tests as required.
,
• Complete end-of-course evaluations for each student.
,
• Assign grades according to established rubrics.
,
• Establish classroom norms and communicate expectations for student conduct.
,
• Attend to student health and wellness matters according to established protocols.
,
• Communicate with parents and students according to CTY guidelines.
,
• Complete administrative tasks in a timely manner.
,
• Attend all required staff meetings and professional learning experiences.
,
• Participate in action research by administering surveys or completing data collection tasks.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university is required.
,
• At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience is required.
,
• Advanced knowledge of biology is essential.
,
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
,
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds is required.

Nice-to-haves
• Master's Degree is preferred.

• Experience working with advanced learners or training in gifted education is preferred.

• Experience teaching science to elementary or middle school students.
