Position Title: CRM ManagerReports To: Deputy Director of Operations & Culture  About UsThe Movement Innovation Collaborative (MIC) is a new time-limited entity that will deepen and expand the capacity, impact, and sustainability of California's grassroots movements for racial justice and social transformation. Through offerings that are additive and synergistic with existing movement efforts, the MIC will support changemakers and organizations in catalyzing innovations in movement strategy, power-building, intergenerational leadership development, and collective long-term sustainability and resilience. Through a network of physical and virtual "centers," the MIC will also contribute a key piece of infrastructure to fuel transformative structural change across California. This network will comprise new and existing centers serving hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of grassroots leaders across California.  Position Overview The CRM Manager leads and executes the design, build, and maintenance of the MIC’s Salesforce CRM database, under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Operations and Culture and in close collaboration with the Data Strategist and the program team. This position is responsible for building on our initial CRM discovery with additional detailed discovery and then designing and configuring a Salesforce instance from the ground up. What You’ll Be Doing The person in this role must bring a strong understanding of the Salesforce platform options for nonprofits, along with the ability to understand our organizational needs and translate them into an effectively configured Salesforce instance. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating with stakeholders across the organization and be able to clearly explain design options and their tradeoffs. Current CRM environment/conditionsRemote-first organization with 15-20 staff across California and one office location in the Los Angeles areaNo central CRM is in useData that will go into the CRM is in spreadsheets, with some historical information in AirtableBasic discovery has been completed, resulting in requirements that Salesforce has been validated against, a draft simplified ERD, and a draft data dictionary that is known to be incompleteKey responsibilitiesDesign, build, maintenance, and project management of SalesforceInitiallyConduct detailed discoveryWith staff input and buy-in, design Salesforce configuration for overall relationship management, program participation, and institutional fundraisingConfigure Salesforce in alignment with the designMigrate data in collaboration with staffProject-manage the design, build, data migration, and rolloutOngoingCollect feedback from coworkers and use it to implement improvementsCreate and maintain Salesforce roadmapDiscovery for new features needed/new areas of work to be added to the CRMDesign new featuresImplement new featuresTroubleshoot in collaboration with users and address problems as they ariseManage user accounts and accessSupport effective data entry and data hygieneProject-manage Salesforce overallDocumentation, training, and change management for SalesforceDevelop and maintain minimum viable documentation to support staff in their use of the CRMDevelop and deliver trainings for staff on the CRMParticipate in additional activities in collaboration with other staff to prepare, equip, and support people for the change that comes from the rollout of a new CRMWho You Are While no one person will embody all of the qualities described below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences:3-5 years’ experience configuring Salesforce in nonprofit contexts, including fields, objects, pages, roles, profiles, permission sets, flows, and reports and dashboardsSalesforce Platform Administrator or Nonprofit Cloud Consultant certification a major plusExperience eliciting detailed requirements from system usersExperience designing Salesforce features based on user requirementsExperience putting user-centered design principles into practiceExperience developing and delivering trainings and people-centered support to stakeholders across the organizationUnderstanding of user testing best practicesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, in particular the ability to communicate with nontechnical audiences about technical topicsAbility to effectively balance multiple competing prioritiesStrong time management skillsStrong alignment with the MIC's mission, values, and cultureDemonstrated ability to work well within a multiracial teamA flexible and resilient approach, with the ability to handle strong opinions/feedback well, and adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup environmentExperience with social movement organizing is a plus Employment Classification and Salary This is a .75 full-time/30-hours a week, exempt position starting as soon as possible. This role is remote; however, the candidate must be in California. The annual salary for this position is $90,000The MIC has a 90-day trial period policy for all new hires. This allows both the organization and the employee to ensure a great fit. During this period, performance, adaptability, and cultural alignment will be assessed through ongoing feedback and a formal review. Benefits100% organization-funded medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees, their spouses or domestic partners, and their children. Coverage begins on the first day of employment. Paid Time Off: As a full-time employee, you will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days per year, and a generous paid family leave policy. Accrual of this benefit begins on the first day of employment and becomes available upon completion of the 90-day trial period.  Paid Holidays: 21 days total, including a 10-day Winter Break overlapping with Christmas and New Year’s Day. Additionally, 4 Floating Holidays will be made available upon completion of the 90-day trial period.  Retirement Plan: MIC offers a 403b retirement plan. MIC contributes an employer-paid amount equal to 5% of your salary. Vesting for this contribution is immediate. Employees have a default 3% personal contribution rate and may adjust it at any time. This benefit becomes available after the 90-day trial period.MIC’s salaries and benefits reflect our commitment to collective care and sustainability.
