Credentialing Specialist for Behavioral Health Practice
Our behavioral health practice is seeking an experienced Credentialing Specialist to assist with insurance credentialing and related tasks. The ideal candidate will have prior experience handling credentialing for healthcare providers, specifically in behavioral health, and be detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in follow-up.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Update and maintain provider CAQH profiles to ensure accuracy and readiness for credentialing applications.
2. Prepare, complete, and submit credentialing applications to insurance companies (both private insurers and Medicaid / Medicare).
3. Regularly follow up with insurance payors until credentialing contracts are signed and approved.
4. Track application status and provide timely updates to the practice.
5. Maintain organized records of applications, contracts, and correspondence.
6. Support additional credentialing and re-credentialing tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience with CAQH, Waystar, and insurance credentialing (behavioral health experience strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with credentialing processes for major commercial insurance plans and Medicaid/Medicare (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of behavioral health insurance networks and requirements.
- Experience working with EHR or credentialing software.
