CORP LEGAL/Litigation Attorney

JOB DESCRIPTION

Seasoned attorney with experience in the following substantive areas: litigation, arbitration, mediation, appellate proceedings, and dispute resolution. Will work directly with internal clients to manage litigation and legal disputes, manage outside counsel, develop dispute resolution strategies, prepare budgets and be responsible for risk mitigation, commercial, regulatory and employment matters. Interact with and advise senior management in areas of responsibility. Work on resolution of contract disputes, risk analysis, regulatory compliance, and training internal clients on legal issues. Must have excellent writing skills and must be capable of handling most matters with a minimum of supervision. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strategy & Case Management: Direct litigation strategy for lawsuits, investigations and pre-litigation disputes.
• Outside Counsel Management: Manage external law firms, including fee negotiations, billing review (e.g., Legal Tracker) and performance oversight.
• Risk & Reporting: Conduct risk assessments, report potential exposure and/or compliance concerns to senior leadership.
• Discovery & Compliance: Implement legal holds and manage e-discovery, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Settlement & Negotiation: Approve or recommend settlement agreements, participating in mediation and court-mandated activities.
• Internal Collaboration: Liaise with Human Resources, Compliance, and Operations to gather evidence and align on strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
• - 10+ years litigation experience, proven experience managing complex cases and teams.
• - Admitted to the practice of law in at least one U.S. Jurisdiction
• - Ability to advise clients in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the business objectives and risk/reward analysis
• - Ability to handle multiple projects efficiently and to deal effectively with clients
• - Excellent oral/written communication skills
• - Excellent practical and creative problem-solving skills.
• - Excellent business judgment
• - Self-directed, ability to execute projects with minimal supervision
