A private equity backed multi-unit operating platform is building out its accounting and finance function and adding its first dedicated Controller. This is a fully remote opportunity, ideally aligned to Eastern time, for an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of the entire financial close and reporting process across the platform. The right person will be a builder who can shape systems, processes, and reporting from the ground up while partnering directly with ownership on growth initiatives. This is a strong fit for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with variety in the work and an active growth story.
Responsibilities
• Own monthly close across all operating locations, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery every cycle
• Produce P&L reporting, variance analysis, and KPI dashboards for ownership and operational leadership
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions across the platform
• Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and intercompany accounting across multiple legal entities
• Partner with external tax advisors on annual filings, tax strategy, and compliance
• Establish and maintain the chart of accounts and accounting policies across all entities
• Support acquisition due diligence, integration, and financial normalization as the platform continues to grow
Requirements
• Roughly 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with prior Controller-level exposure preferred
• CPA designation required, ideally with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 or similar) and industry experience
• Comfortable consolidating financials across multiple legal entities and locations
• Strong working knowledge of cloud-based accounting software and the ability to integrate with operational data systems
• Mindset for process improvement, efficiency, and automation, not maintaining the status quo
• Prior experience in a private equity backed, search fund, or operator-led environment is a plus
• Self-starter who thrives in a lean, fully remote setup with direct access to ownership
