Your RoleThe Controller will be responsible for the operational finance and accounting operations, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, tax, corporate requirements, and ensuring employees follow company policies and practices. This role will report to the VP, Finance, and work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager.What You’ll Do:Oversee all operational finance and accounting functions, including, but not limited to, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General ledger, financial reporting, federal/state/local taxesDevelop and implement a vision for the future state of the accounting department Supervise and develop finance and accounting team membersEnsure Second Dinner’s compliance with all applicable accounting standards (ASC 606, ASC 842, etc.) and contractual obligations with external partiesDevelop technical memos as neededDrive operational process improvements Ensure and implement strong internal controlsManage purchasing, vendor payments, and treasury functionsOversee equity administration process including calculating stock compensation expenseOversee annual audit, tax, compliance, and other initiatives as neededManage relevant key third-party relationships--e.g., with tax professionals, outside auditors, banking partners, payment service providers, software vendorsSupport financial planning and budgetingComplete ad-hoc projects and analyses as neededWhat You’ll Need:Proven work experience around month-end close, preparing financial statements, researching guidance, and drafting memosCPA license required10+ years of experience in finance and accounting with 3+ years in a management position/team leader.Thorough knowledge of technical accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and proceduresDesire to work in a creative startup environment and a willingness to pitch in wherever neededPassion for being scrappy, working independently, attention to detail, and building things from scratchNice to Have, but Not Necessary:Advanced degree in Accounting and/or FinancePublic accounting (Big 4) experience Experience scaling operational finance and accounting functions in a start-upProficient in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks OnlineExperience with an implementation of an ERP systemWorking with equity administration software (e.g., Carta)Experience working with international companies/businessesExperience with revenue recognition for video games or direct-to-consumer saas businesses and a strong grasp of ASC 606Passion for video gamesThe total compensation for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $200,000 - $250,000USD + equity + comprehensive benefits + potential for discretionary performance bonuses.Individual pay within this salary range may span multiple levels within the discipline and is determined by assessed job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training. It also factors in market demands and business needs. The disclosed range is not adjusted based on location and may be subject to change or modification based on business needs in the future.
