Remote Full-time
About Pikes Peak Data Sciences

Pikes Peak Data Sciences is a Colorado-based consultancy delivering practical AI and software engineering solutions for clients in healthcare, aerospace, energy, and government contracting. We build production-grade AI systems focused on agentic AI, document intelligence, retrieval systems, and applied machine learning in regulated environments.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Technical Writer & Proposal Specialist who can help transform complex technical concepts into clear, organized, and professional documentation. This role works closely with software engineers, AI engineers, data scientists, and leadership to support both internal engineering efforts and client-facing deliverables.

A major focus of this role will be supporting government and commercial contracting efforts through the development of technical proposals, white papers, capability statements, technical solution narratives, and implementation documentation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with technical teams to communicate complex AI and software solutions in a clear, persuasive, and professionally structured format.

This role will contribute directly to proposal development, client delivery documentation, internal knowledge management, and technical communications across a variety of AI and software engineering initiatives. You should be comfortable learning new technical systems quickly and organizing information in a way that is accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.

This is a hands-on contract role focused on building high-quality documentation for real-world AI and software engineering projects rather than purely administrative writing.

What You'll Do
• Develop technical proposals, white papers, capability statements, and solution documentation for government and commercial contracting opportunities
• Support proposal responses including technical approaches, implementation plans, staffing narratives, and past performance documentation
• Work directly with engineers, AI developers, and technical leadership to translate complex technical solutions into client-ready deliverables
• Create and maintain documentation for AI applications, backend systems, APIs, data platforms, and internal tools
• Document AI workflows involving LLMs, retrieval systems, document intelligence pipelines, and automation platforms
• Assist with technical editing, formatting, and quality assurance for client-facing deliverables
• Organize and standardize documentation practices across engineering and consulting projects
• Translate highly technical concepts into clear communication for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Collaborate across multiple projects in a fast-moving consulting environment
• Review documentation for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and completeness

Preferred Qualifications
• At least 2 years of experience in technical writing, proposal writing, technical communications, or related fields
• Experience supporting government proposals, federal contracting efforts, SBIR/STTR submissions, or commercial RFP responses
• Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Experience working alongside software engineering, AI, or technical teams
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, client-ready documentation
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, APIs, software systems, or cloud-based platforms
• Experience writing technical solution narratives, white papers, or capability statements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Experience working in regulated industries or government environments is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred

Requirements
• MUST currently reside in COLORADO
• MUST be a U.S. CITIZEN eligible to work on government contracts

Pay & Hours
• 1099 contractor position
• Compensation ranges from $40–$70/hour depending on experience and qualifications
• Flexible hours based on active project and proposal needs
• Up to 40 hours per week depending on workload and availability
• Fully remote
