# **Contract Mortgage Underwriter (Subject Matter Expert)** We are seeking **contract mortgage underwriters** with hands-on experience reviewing and approving mortgage files. You will partner closely with our product team to shape, test, and validate a new tool designed to improve **speed and accuracy** in real-world mortgage workflows. --- ## **What You’ll Do** • Apply your real-world underwriting expertise to simulate authentic mortgage scenarios. • Create and curate realistic example document sets covering a wide range of borrower profiles and loan types. • Provide insight into underwriting guidelines and decision-making processes across: • Major banks • Credit unions • Government-backed programs (FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) • Test and provide feedback on our product to improve usability, efficiency, and compliance. --- ## **What We’re Looking For** • Direct mortgage underwriting experience. • Experience reviewing and approving loans by analyzing borrower documentation, including: • Income and employment verification • Credit reports • Bank statements • Asset documentation • Appraisals and disclosures • Knowledge of underwriting guidelines across conventional and government loan programs. • Experience working “in the weeds” of loan approval and decision-making. • Comfortable working as a contractor in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. --- ## **Bonus Qualifications** • Experience working with multiple lenders or investor guidelines. • Familiarity with underwriting automation tools or LOS systems (e.g., Encompass, Calyx). --- Apply tot his job
