Conflicts Analyst

The Conflicts Analyst role involves supporting the firm's risk management by conducting conflict of interest reporting, corporate research, and generating conflict reports while maintaining confidentiality and effective communication with attorneys. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive corporate research from multiple sources, analyze and apply this knowledge to build corporate trees based on the department’s algorithms Review, analyze, and interpret complex search results as part of the conflict analysis and reporting process and pursuant to the rules of professional conduct Generate conflict reports and follow-up on outstanding conflict requests, often performed on an urgent basis Review contents of conflicts reports, provide analysis of relevant conflict issues, and identify means for resolution Communicate relevant substantive information and appropriate next steps to attorneys, including the need for waivers, review basic contents of waivers once returned, and escalate complex issues Assist with drafting and revising waiver language, as necessary and subject to appropriate supervision Request and record all necessary conflict resolution documentation, including waivers or engagement letters, to facilitate the clearance of actual or potential conflicts Assist in triaging and processing lateral, bankruptcy, and independence memo searches Create new matter files and maintain client and matter data in the Elite billing system Performs other special projects, as assigned Skills Must demonstrate the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm's internal and personnel affairs Must willingly accept and proactively perform delegated assignments in a cooperative manner, subject to Manager supervision Able to interact effectively with colleagues at the firm, including attorneys and support staff Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities; able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks Must be team-oriented and able to share information, goals, opportunities, successes and failures with the appropriate parties Able to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse environment Bachelor's degree or equivalent required Must possess exceptional customer service orientation and interpersonal skills Strong PC and data entry skills Analytical and problem-solving skills Verbal and written communication skills Solid work ethic Experience in a compliance, regulatory, financial, or legal environment strongly preferred Experience in a legal conflicts environment preferred Database research experience (such as Lexis, Elite and LegalKey/Elegrity/Intapp/iManage) preferred Benefits Comprehensive health and well-being benefits Personal and professional development Career growth opportunities A collegial and supportive culture Company Overview Ropes & Gray, a preeminent, global law firm, has been ranked in the top-three on The American Lawyer's prestigious "A-List" for eight consecutive years and listed on Law.com’s UK “A-List” for three years in a row.
