Component Design Engineer – Turbomachinery Transmissions
Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world, and they are seeking a Component Design Engineer to join their Global Mechanical Systems Capability function. The role involves creating engineering solutions for component design, ensuring robustness for manufacturing, and supporting supply chain activities. Responsibilities Deliver new component designs, analyses, and changes within the Design Technical Approval (DTA) gated process, which includes (but is not limited to) creating design concepts, optimizing concepts to a final definition, preparing technical presentations and documents, supporting creation of drawings, analysis, delivering hardware for validation, and release of hardware to the field Support the supply chain in procuring hardware, concession consultation and execution of Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs) Provide engineering support of service and/or development related hardware issues including Engine Investigations (EI) and Technical Variance (TV) analysis Develop and specify component design requirements in accordance with module, system, and customer interface requirements Address manufacturing, assembly, in-field, and aftermarket issues as they arise Participate in or lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) team Skills Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, with 1+ years of experience in mechanical design, OR Master's degree in mechanical engineering, OR JD/PhD in Mechanical Engineering To be considered for this role, you must be a US Citizen Experience in the design, analysis, and/or verification of aerospace mechanical components and/or systems Experience in progressing designs/changes through a gated review process Experience with gas turbine or turbomachinery power transmission components, including gears, rolling element bearings, shafts, and high-performance seals Experience in the following software applications: Siemens NX, Siemens Teamcenter, ANSYS, Microsoft Excel Experience in dimensional tolerance stack-ups and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Knowledge of gas turbine subsystems and components and their function and operation Benefits Bonus Employee support assistance Employee discounts Health Dental Vision Disability Life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance Flexible spending account Health savings account 401(k) retirement savings plan with a company match Employee Assistance Program Paid Time Off Certain paid holidays Paid parental and family care leave Tuition reimbursement Long-term incentive plan Company Overview Rolls-Royce provides aerospace engines, power systems, defense propulsion, marine solutions, and comprehensive MRO services.
