Compliance Investigator

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee is seeking a Compliance Investigator to join its Compliance & Audit team. The role involves conducting and managing investigations related to compliance matters and ensuring that National Governing Bodies meet their membership obligations as set forth in various policies.ResponsibilitiesServe as point of contact for preliminary inquiries and/or complaints of non-compliance by NGBs or the USOPCIn coordination with the Sr. Investigator and Sr. Director, determine if formal investigation and/or additional fact-gathering is needed to resolve a concernAs needed, investigate allegations of non-compliance with the Requirements by NGBs or the USOPC by developing and executing investigative plans, conducting witness interviews, and collecting and reviewing documentsWrite detailed investigative reports summarizing the results of investigations or reviews and analyzing compliance under the RequirementsProvide clear summaries to affected parties, orally and in writing, of findings and conclusions from USOPC-led investigations and reviewsEnsure communication with the Sr. Director relative to significant investigative developments via regular briefings, oral presentations, and written reportsAt all times, exercise sound judgment regarding the resolution of complaints, including informal resolution and formal investigationBased on review and investigations conducted, provide assessments concerning compliance deficiencies that may be addressed through delivery of internal or external supportSupport the Sr. Director as needed in prosecuting NGB and other non-compliance mattersParticipate in organizational strategic and tactical planning as requestedWhen appropriate, assist in the identification and review of potential personnel enhancements by participating in candidate interviews, conducting background research, and providing feedback to the Sr. Director and Chief Ethics & Compliance OfficerMaintain confidentiality and use discretion and judgement in sharing and discussing information regarding inquiries, complaints, investigations, etcPerform other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director and/or Chief Ethics & Compliance OfficerSkillsJuris Doctor degree requiredPreference for admission to Colorado bar or the ability to obtain membership in a reasonable amount of time1-3 years of legal experience, preferably with focus on compliance issues and internal investigations in a law firm, corporate, or government environment; practice of law related to professional or amateur sports is a plusExperience in conducting investigations, including interviewing subjects and drafting investigation summaries/reportsExcellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skillsExcellent judgement in managing highly sensitive and confidential informationAbility to interact well with individuals outside of the organization, at all levels and from all backgroundsSkilled in writing concise, logical, and analytical reportsCandidates will be asked to provide a writing sample as part of the interview processCandidates will be asked to provide a Law School transcriptAbility to remain calm under pressure and confidently make decisions in a high-intensity environmentAbility to work as part of a team to conduct investigations in a neutral and sensitive mannerNo impairment to independence with respect to NGBs or the USOPCPassion for sport and the ideals of the Olympic & Paralympic MovementExperience with NGBs and/or elite athlete organizationsKnowledge of complexities surrounding investigations within the sporting environment and/or experience working with athletesExperience with conducting multiple party/complex investigations including interviewing skills, assessments, and recommendationsPossess skills in the areas of conflict resolution and problem-solving techniquesFamiliarity with the operation of the USOPC and with U.S. sport organizations involved in Olympic, Paralympic, Pan American, and Parapan American movementsKnowledge of the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act and USOPC BylawsBenefitsAnnual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target.USOPC benefits.Company OverviewAt the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, our mission is empowering the competitive excellence and well-being of Team USA athletes, championing the power of sport, and inspiring the nation.
