Compliance and BSA/AML Officer

Remote Full-time
Position Summary:

The Compliance and BSA/AML Officer reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel and is a part of the Risk team. This role will oversee two teams – compliance and BSA/AML – in not only the community bank space, but also our financial technology (fintech) business line. This role requires a deep understanding of the regulatory regime applicable to the bank and a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem and legal requirements. This role also requires strong leadership skills and enthusiasm to develop team members and create a cohesive team.

Essential Functions:
β€’ Fintech Advisory Work: Work as a partner with business, legal and enterprise risk management teams to evaluate new products and services. Work directly with fintech partners to perform due diligence on new products and services, and document reviews.
β€’ Solution Oriented: Craft and execute innovative strategies to build and implement robust compliance programs for our fintech products. Heavy focus on not only identifying risks, but also working with stakeholders to identify risk-based solutions.
β€’ Cross-Functional Team Building: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, enterprise risk management and legal, to integrate regulatory requirements seamlessly into our products and services.
β€’ Governance: Create structures, where needed, that allow for flexibility, when appropriate. Streamline cumbersome review processes and manage committee materials and meetings in a way that is meaningful for attendees.
β€’ Regulatory & Risk Navigator: Lead the monitoring of evolving financial services regulations, and interface with regulatory bodies.
β€’ Management and Development of Team: Lead and develop the compliance and BSA/AML teams, including individual coaching, proactively identifying opportunities for development, and ensuring that there is a free flow of communication across the teams and limiting silos, when possible.

Key Attributes:
β€’ You're ready to roll up your sleeves, comfortable with ambiguity, collaborate, and deliver results that matter.
β€’ You thrive in fast-paced, innovative environments, and you always have an eye for streamlining and standardizing processes.
β€’ You believe in the value of community banking (with a fintech twist) in Iowa!

Required Qualifications:
β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Business with a strong background in compliance, with an ability to carefully read and parse through regulations, or J.D.

Preferred Qualifications:
β€’ Experience: 10-15 years of hands-on experience in BSA/AML, OFAC and compliance, preferably in financial services or fintech
β€’ Skills: You're a problem-solver with a strong understanding of relevant consumer protection regulations (e.g., BSA/AML, OFAC, Regulation E, ECOA, FCRA, UDAAP, payment regulations/reg II, privacy), excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build compliance programs from the ground up.

Physical Demands:
β€’ Remain sedentary (seated) for extended periods of time.

Working Environment:
β€’ This role uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

Travel:
β€’ Travel to primary office locations and branches to connect with fellow colleagues and participate in local events is a part of this role!
