Job Summary:
The Collections Manager oversees the collections department and is responsible for improving collection rates, reducing delinquencies, and managing a team of collections specialists. This role ensures compliance with collection laws and internal policies while maintaining effective communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the collections team to meet or exceed collection targets.Develop, implement, and optimize collection strategies, policies, and procedures.Monitor accounts receivable portfolio and aging reports to identify delinquent accounts.Contact clients regarding overdue payments and negotiate payment plans when necessary.Collaborate with the sales, finance, and legal departments to resolve disputes or escalations.Prepare regular reports on collections status, trends, and performance metrics.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding debt collection.Train and mentor team members, fostering professional development and performance improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in credit and collections atleast 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.Strong understanding of collection techniques, credit risk assessment, and legal guidelines.Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP).Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
