Cloud Infrastructure Architect

Remote Full-time

Position Purpose

The Cloud Infrastructure Architect is the organization's lead technical expert for cloud infrastructure and services. This role owns the complete cloud service lifecycle, from architecture design and platform engineering through operational governance and optimization. Primarily focused on Microsoft Azure, the Cloud Architect may also be required to design, manage, and support Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud platform environments to enable seamless multi-cloud integration and standardization across the enterprise. This position translates strategic vision into technical reality, delivering cloud solutions that are secure, cost-effective, resilient, and directly aligned with both clinical and business goals.

Nature and Scope

Primary Responsibilities:

Cloud Architecture & Strategy

Design and maintain scalable, multi-region cloud architectures (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) that ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance
Develop cloud-native patterns and "Golden Paths" that accelerate engineering velocity while minimizing technical debt
Translate business and clinical requirements into actionable cloud roadmaps with clear dependencies, risk assessments, and financial impact analysis (FinOps)

Platform Engineering & Automation

Establish and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards using tools such as Terraform and Bicep to ensure consistent, repeatable, and auditable deployments
Design and build robust CI/CD pipelines that automate cloud resource provisioning and application delivery
In collaboration with our security group, architect and manage identity and access management (IAM) frameworks that enforce least-privilege security principles across all cloud environments
Engineer and optimize cloud networking solutions including VPNs, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect, load balancers, and service mesh architectures
Build and maintain automation tooling and self-service platforms that empower engineering teams to provision and manage cloud resources efficiently

Operations & Observability

Define and implement comprehensive observability standards including logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure optimal performance and reliability of cloud workloads
Provide Tier 3 engineering support for complex cloud incidents, outages, and performance issues, including root cause analysis and remediation
Lead operational readiness reviews and post-incident retrospectives to drive continuous improvement
Conduct regular cost-optimization reviews and implement technical solutions to rationalize cloud spending, including rightsizing, reserved capacity, and architectural improvements
Perform proactive capacity planning and performance tuning to maintain service levels and prevent degradation
Collaborate with security and compliance teams to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain operational security posture

This position does not provide patient care
