The Cloud Infrastructure Administrator supports enterprise infrastructure environments that host critical application stacks for teaching, research, and administrative services. Working with platform, server, and network engineers, this role assists in the operation and maintenance of compute and storage systems across virtualized and cloud-based environments. Responsibilities include supporting virtualization platforms, enterprise storage, data protection, and related infrastructure services. The role also assists with automation, monitoring, and lifecycle management activities to help ensure infrastructure is secure and reliable. This position reports to the Manager of Cloud Operations and Engineering within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services department.Duties/Responsibilities(55%) Assist with daily operational management and support of enterprise virtualization platforms, storage solutions, and data protection solutions:Administration of Virtualization and Cloud platformsAdministration of data backup and protection services aligning them with data retention, disaster recovery, and business continuity policiesConfiguration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of enterprise storage solutions including storage arrays and hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) for block and file scenarios, and cloud object and block storage solutionsCoordination and collaboration with application management teams regarding server system requirements and provisioning needsCoordination with vendors for patching and upgrading of virtualization platforms, storage, and data protection solutions(30%) Using CI/CD concepts for guidance, assist with managing, configuring, and ensuring the successful lifecycle of virtual and cloud-based assets in the USNH private and public cloud environments:Contribute to the automation of VM and compute resource provisioning and lifecycle managementAssist with monitoring service performance and resource utilization and with the administration of automated performance analysis, anomaly detection, notification, and responseSupport the implementation of AI enhancements to improve IT automation processes, solutions, and data analysisCollaborate with other functional teams to ensure high availability, stability, scalability, and fault tolerance of server and service resourcesAssist with the creation and management of documentation(10%) Contribute to additional assigned projects as a resource:Provide your input as a subject matter expert or representative of the infrastructure teamProvide communication between the project team and your department leadership as neededResearch solutions to support any deliverables of the assigned project(5%) General IT support:A commitment to providing stable and reliable servicesDemonstrated ability to rapidly learn and understand new technologiesEffective oral and written communication skillsProvide after-hours coverage for time sensitive, scheduled, critical events, addressing production issues, or other changesRequirementsMinimum Acceptable Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience in information technology field, Associate’s and six years, or combination of education and experience equal to eight yearsExperience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, familiarity with virtualized platforms (e.g., VMware, HyperV, or KVM)Working knowledge of server operating systems and networking concepts (e.g., routing, load balancing, secure connectivity)Experience assisting with infrastructure operations, maintenance, and monitoringExperience working collaboratively with platform, server, or network engineersAbility to create and maintain internal and user-facing documentationStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Broad knowledge of several areas of information technology and thorough knowledge of specialty areas as required by departmentOverall information technology skills as required by employing departmentOrganizational skills and effective oral and written communication skillsOrganized, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and within a teamAbility to work effectively while remote, including remote customer supportGeneral working knowledge of virtual and cloud networking conceptsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with hybrid infrastructure environments (on-premises and cloud)Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWSExperience assisting with automation, monitoring, and lifecycle management initiativesPractical experience or exposure to infrastructure modernization initiatives and AI-assisted IT servicesExperience supporting critical application stacks for teaching, research, or administrative servicesFamiliarity with enterprise storage concepts (SAN/NAS, RAID, storage provisioning)Experience with scripting or automation of tasks and processesExperience working in higher education IT environmentsApplicant InstructionsApplicants should be prepared to upload a 1-page document that describes your current experience with virtualization, cloud technologies, or other technical skills when applying online within the Resume/Cover Letter section of your application.Resume/CVCover LetterExperience (listed below)Experience: As detailed and as concisely as possible, describe your current experience with virtualization, cloud technologies, or other technical skills that will be useful in your while you learn new skills related to the position.
