Major/Essential Functions
ā¢ Participates in course administration and instruction for the dental school curriculum
ā¢ Develops and delivers an integrated curriculum, which blends basic science and clinical concepts, in collaboration with faculty members in other disciplines
ā¢ Employs multiple teaching methods including case-based instruction, large- and small-group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, team-based learning, and distance education
ā¢ Provides formative and summative assessment of dental student performance
ā¢ Provides individual support, feedback, and advice to dental students
ā¢ Works closely with the course and curriculum committees, fellow faculty, and key administrators to accomplish the goals and objectives of the dental school's curriculum
ā¢ Engages in clinical practice of general dentistry
ā¢ Engages in scholarship that enhances the practice of dentistry and dental education
ā¢ Serves the academic dentistry community through participation in professional organizations
ā¢ Adheres to institutional policies and procedures
ā¢ Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications
ā¢ A minimum of one-year experience in teaching general dentistry for clinical assistant professor or higher rank
ā¢ Experience in teaching general dentistry in a clinically-integrated dentistry program to dental students
ā¢ Successful completion of a general practice residency or an advanced education in general dentistry program
ā¢ Experience in the use of medical/dental imaging, laboratory findings, restorations, and clinical case-based scenarios in the teaching of general dentistry
ā¢ Clinical practice experience in general dentistry
ā¢ Experience in the development and delivery of an integrated dental curriculum
ā¢ Experience with innovative teaching methods, such as interactive large- and small-group formats, laboratory-based instruction, team-based learning, case-based learning, problem-based learning, and distance education
ā¢ Experience with curriculum and clinical management software systems
ā¢ Participation in national organizations or committees devoted to dental education
ā¢ Experience in dental education scholarship
ā¢ Experience in the development of grant proposals and the management of extramural funding
ā¢ Emerging or established regional or national reputation for clinical associate professor or higher rank
