Claims Specialist - Liability

We are looking for a Liability Claims Specialist (m/f/d), based in Alpharetta, GA, O’Fallon, MO or Chicago, IL.

The Impact You Will Have
The Liability Claims Specialist will proactively investigate, negotiate, and resolve assigned primary / umbrella Commercial Liability and Commercial Auto claims, in accordance with established best practices and assure claims are handled within granted autonomy limits. You will also develop and maintain relationships with customers and brokers as well as internal business partners. The Liability Claims Specialist will also provide efficient claims handling within team while working with third-party service providers in achieving economical results and to provide high quality service to all internal and external relationships.

Responsibilities
• Investigate claims that involve complex liability issues on domestic and multinational claims
• Input and maintain accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AzC Claims administration systems.
• Select and direct independent external service providers (e.g., Lawyers, Independent Adjusters, Experts).
• Evaluate and address coverage issues and determine appropriate reserving levels.
• Negotiate and resolve high exposure, complex claims ensuring cost effective, service orientated solutions.
• Support training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff.
• Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AzC Claims complex procedures and guidelines.
• Refer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate.
• Support establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters.
• Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary)

Requirements
• 5-7 years’ experience in proven track record in handling Liability claims involving complex coverage and damage issues
• Demonstrate established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within local market.
• Have an expert understanding of Liability products and portfolio, with expert understanding of coverage and application in the adjustment process.
• In-depth understanding of regional / local Liability insurance markets and competitor landscape.
• Detailed understanding of legal and regulatory framework.
• Experience working in a complex, global matrix organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
