Chief Estimator - Structural Steel Erection (Remote)

Job Title: Chief Estimator - Structural Steel Erection (Remote) Overview We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator with a strong background in structural steel erection and construction to lead our estimating department. This is a fully remote position with no travel required. The ideal candidate will bring 10-15 years of experience estimating large-scale structural steel projects valued from $5M to $20M+, including arenas, stadiums, airports, manufacturing facilities, and automotive dealerships. Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage the full estimating process for structural steel erection projects, from conceptual design through bid submission. • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop detailed, accurate estimates. • Coordinate with project management, engineering, and fabrication teams to ensure bid accuracy and constructability. • Develop and maintain pricing databases, subcontractor/vendor relationships, and historical cost data. • Review and validate estimates prepared by junior estimators, providing mentorship and technical guidance. • Prepare bid proposals, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation for executive review. • Participate in pre-bid meetings, value engineering discussions, and client presentations as needed. Qualifications • 10-15 years of experience estimating structural steel erection or heavy steel construction projects. • Proven experience leading estimates for projects $5M-$20M+ in value. • Strong understanding of steel erection sequencing, and field operations. • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., FabTrol, Tekla EPM, Bluebeam, or equivalent) is highly preferred. • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines. • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Location & Schedule: • Remote position - no travel required. • Candidates should reside within or near the U.S. Central Time Zone for optimal collaboration with company operations.
