Chief Compliance Officer

Remote Full-time
Description
• Novig is revolutionizing the sports prediction market by creating America's premier commission-free trading platform. We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to build and lead a best-in-class compliance framework. This critical role will bring institutional-grade regulatory rigor to the rapidly evolving landscape of sports prediction markets, ensuring Novig operates with the highest standards of integrity and compliance.
• As the CCO, you will be the primary internal owner of the compliance framework. You will possess the authority and judgment to identify potential issues, meticulously design and implement solutions, and escalate matters to the Chief Regulatory Officer when appropriate. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring thoughtful execution, complete ownership, and close collaboration with a high-performing team.
• A core aspect of this role involves applying deep expertise in CFTC DCM Core Principles to design, implement, test, monitor, document, and continuously enhance a scalable compliance program. This program must adapt and evolve alongside the business, anticipating future needs and regulatory changes.
• You will be instrumental in managing regulatory examinations, audits, and inquiries. This includes preparing necessary materials, coordinating comprehensive responses, and actively engaging with regulators to foster a transparent and cooperative relationship.
• Cross-functional partnership is key to success. You will collaborate closely with Information Security to ensure robust cybersecurity and systems controls. You will work with Surveillance to develop and refine market monitoring and abuse prevention strategies. Partnerships with Finance and Regulatory Finance will ensure compliance with financial resource requirements and accurate reporting. Close coordination with Legal will be essential for regulatory interpretation and managing external counsel. Furthermore, you will engage with Engineering and Product teams to embed regulatory requirements directly into our systems and workflows, making compliance an integral part of our technology.
• This role offers an exciting opportunity to support Novig's regulatory initiatives and future expansion plans. This includes preparing for potential DCO Core Principle compliance, demonstrating our commitment to a comprehensive and forward-thinking regulatory approach.
• You will gain invaluable experience representing Novig externally with regulators, policymakers, trade associations, and industry participants, always in coordination with the Chief Regulatory Officer. This is a chance to shape the narrative and build trust within the broader regulatory community.
• The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where seniority translates into impactful action and ownership. Novig is building the future of sports betting, transforming it from a closed, casino-controlled system into a fair, efficient market where users hold the power. This role is central to achieving that mission by ensuring our operations are built on a foundation of trust and regulatory excellence.
• This position is not for those seeking a rigid, process-heavy environment with clearly defined swim lanes. Our work is tied to live sports, which inherently involves nights, weekends, and high-pressure situations. If you are motivated by solving complex problems, driving innovation, and taking direct responsibility for critical compliance functions in a rapidly growing company, this role will be exceptionally rewarding. You will have the opportunity to own real systems, see decisions made and implemented quickly, and contribute directly to the success of a company backed by top-tier investors like Pantera, Forerunner, Lux, NFX, Paul Graham, and Joe Montana.
• Join us to fix a rigged system where the house always wins. Novig is building the future of sports betting, and as our Chief Compliance Officer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring its integrity and regulatory soundness. This is a unique chance to apply your expertise in a groundbreaking industry, working alongside exceptionally smart, thoughtful, and passionate individuals who are dedicated to their craft and having the most fun in their careers.

Requirements
• Deep expertise in CFTC DCM Core Principles and experience designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive compliance program within a regulated financial or trading environment.
• Proven track record of successfully managing regulatory examinations, audits, and inquiries, including direct engagement with regulatory bodies.
• Strong understanding of market surveillance, anti-abuse prevention, financial resource requirements, and regulatory reporting.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with Legal, Engineering, Product, Information Security, and Finance teams.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a hands-on approach, comfortable taking ownership and driving execution in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

ļø Benefits
• Competitive base salary of $275,000 - $325,000, benchmarked at top-tier tech companies.
• Meaningful equity for every employee, regardless of role, providing a stake in Novig's success.
• Comprehensive health coverage with 100% of health premiums covered and 99% of dental & vision premiums covered.
• Retirement savings plan with a 4% company match on 401(k) contributions.
• Health Savings Account (HSA) with a $1,080 annual company contribution.
• Stipends for meals when working from the NYC office: $27/day lunch and $35/day dinner after 6:30 PM.
