About the Opportunity

A growing, mission‑driven Chicago‑based organization is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer to lead enterprise‑wide financial strategy, planning, and operations. This is a highly visible executive role perfect for a financially savvy leader who excels in executive partnership, forecasting, operational discipline, and building strong finance teams.

This is a remote‑first position with limited on‑site collaboration (~2 days/month
) in Chicago.

Compensation What You’ll Lead
• Own financial strategy, forecasting, multi‑year planning, and capital/budget oversight
• Strengthen reporting, controls, compliance, and financial transparency
• Oversee cash flow, treasury functions, and organizational financial health
• Partner with executive and board stakeholders with clear, actionable analysis
• Build and mentor a strong finance team aligned with organizational goals
• Lead audits, external reporting, and regulatory compliance
What You Bring
• 1+ year of CFO or equivalent senior financial leadership
• Strong people leadership and communication skills
• Background in complex revenue models, grant/contract funding, or multi‑source environments (preferred)
• CPA preferred but not required
• Experience improving systems, processes, and financial infrastructure
• Comfort operating in a remote‑first setting with limited on‑site requirements
Work Model
• On‑site collaboration in Chicago about 2 days/month
• Must live within reasonable travel distance
• PTO: Accrual‑based vacation, sick time, and paid leave totaling ~25 days annually
