Job Title: Certified Medical Coder - Outpatient & Emergency Department (Remote)
Location: Bronx, NY 10461
Duration: 13+ Weeks Contract (Possible Extension)
Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Hours: 35 hrs/week
Pay: $38 per hour
Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking Certified Medical Coder for an exciting job in Bronx, NY.
Key Responsibilities
ā¢ Perform accurate outpatient and ED medical coding in an acute care setting.
ā¢ Review and analyze provider documentation to assign appropriate ICD and CPT codes.
ā¢ Apply comprehensive knowledge of coding guidelines, payer rules, and federal billing regulations.
ā¢ Utilize EPIC, 3M, and related encoder software to complete coding assignments efficiently.
ā¢ Research coding issues and provide clarification or training as needed.
ā¢ Ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of cases.
ā¢ Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve documentation or coding queries.
ā¢ Maintain productivity and quality levels consistent with department expectations.
Required Qualifications
ā¢ Certification: CCS required.
ā¢ Additional acceptable certifications: AHIMA, RHIA, RHIT, CCP.
ā¢ Experience using EPIC and 3M systems.
ā¢ Demonstrated expertise in Outpatient and ED coding.
ā¢ Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, and encoder tools.
ā¢ Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology.
ā¢ Ability to research complex coding issues and support coder training.
