Ā Review/interpret physician documentation to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.
Ā Reviews patient charges to determine necessary coding to complete the account.
Ā Identifies principle and secondary diagnoses as well as procedure codes from the EMR.
Ā Utilizes the encoder or coding books to generate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes for diagnosis and procedures.
Ā Sequences diagnosis and procedures to generate appropriate billing.
Ā Provides ICD-10 and CPT, for physician research projects, and for quality reporting purposes.
Ā Assigns ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS
Ā Completes abstracts for records as appropriate.
Ā Assists in correction of problem accounts.
Ā Reviews charts for completeness.
Ā Participates in education and maintains certification.
Ā Maintains concurrent coding for inpatient records.
Requirements :
Required CCS Ā Certified Coding Specialist or CIPC Ā Certified Inpatient Coder, or RHIA Ā Registered Health Information Administrator, Required 4 years coding experience with preferred experience using an encoder and experience using an electronic medical record.
Education:
Required- H.S. Diploma or equivalent
Required- CCA - Certified Coding Associate American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Or
CCS - Cert-Cert Coding Specialist American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Or
