Certified Coding Specialist/Medical Coder

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical records and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of patient data and facilitating efficient billing processes. The Coding Specialist will work closely with medical staff and billing departments to ensure accurate documentation and coding practices.

Responsibilities
• Review and analyze medical records for accuracy and completeness.
• Assign appropriate codes using ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems.
• Ensure compliance with medical billing regulations and guidelines.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices, and billing regulations.
• Assist in the resolution of any discrepancies related to medical collections.
• Support the implementation of coding policies and procedures within the organization.

Skills
• Proficiency in coding systems including ICD-10 and ICD-9.
• AHIMA Certification: CCS, or both RHIT and CCA
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical office operations.
• Experience with medical records management and medical billing processes.
• Knowledge of DRG coding methodologies.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex information accurately.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $34.00 - $39.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience:
• Inpatient coding in acute care setting: 2 years (Required)
• Expanse (Meditech): 2 years (Preferred)
• Clinical Info Abstraction : 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Certification (Required)
