CART - Captionist

POSITION SUMMARY:

Focus Interpreting is seeking a skilled CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) Captionist to join our team. As a CART Captionist, you will be responsible for providing real-time captioning services to ensure accessibility for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide accurate and timely real-time captioning during meetings, presentations, and other live events.
• Utilize CART software and equipment to create clear and readable captions that effectively convey the spoken content.
• Collaborate with clients and event organizers to understand specific needs and tailor captioning services accordingly.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all guidelines regarding sensitive information during captioning sessions.
• Continuously improve captioning skills and stay updated with industry standards and practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Proficient in English with exceptional grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills.
• Experience in CART captioning or a related field preferred.
• Strong typing skills with a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
• Excellent comprehension abilities and the capacity to process spoken language quickly and accurately.
• Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of captioning quality.
