Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Sr. RF and SATCOM Engineering Architect to be a highly knowledgeable professional responsible for developing IT infrastructure solutions and standards that meet or exceed business performance expectations.This position will architect, design, develop and delivery of ship to shore communications and data transport with various satellite or other wireless RF technologies. The position is responsible for creating detailed solution designs and documentation that supports the development, implementation and operations of an enterprise-class network used globally across ship and shore locations. The position holds the authority for the assigned team’sThis role will support cross-departmental collaboration and internal communications with staff throughout the organization and service providers while promoting a positive work environment that supports consistency and drives efficiencies.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResearch and work with new satellite or other RF technologies such as LEO, High Altitude Platform, Ultra-5G for Proof of Value effortsDesign and deploy new ship VSAT antenna commissionDesign and update technology for end-of-life antenna replacement, new satellite modem, Antenna Control Unit BUC deploymentDesign and deploy new satellite provider vendor neutral solutions, including migration to new providersEnsure in solutions and deployments, the security of our enterprise infrastructure and compliance with all applicable security standards (PCI, PII, HIPPA etc.)Recommend and oversee projects that expand, change, or improve the systems and related infrastructureProvide assistance in reviewing performance and capacity requests as well as design solution resolutionCollaborate with the Brand service delivery leaders to ensure an understanding of business cases and to ensure that the appropriate solution is selected that meets the business needDevelop solutions with a focus on reducing operating DesignResearch and work with new satellite or other RF technologies solutions in support of all projectsWork with other infrastructure teams for new systems designed and engineeredBe able to lead SOW based external resources and be accountable for IT infrastructure architecture and standards developmentReviews and provides approval to deliver, all designs produced by the teamPerforms administrative leadership as necessaryUnderstand advances and changes in the technology industry and work directly with equipment manufactures to assess new technologiesAct as the highest level of engineering escalation for issues encounteredProvide system support and troubleshooting expertise as needed for designed solutionsProvides technical and tactical support to team subordinates when directed or necessary to deliver25-50% ship-based travelWork may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machineryQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, other advanced science or engineering fieldMaster’s degree in a related field preferred7+ years of related engineering experienceExperience in implementing satellite communications systemsExperience in least one major manufacture such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, HPE/Aruba and Cisco for Layer 2/3 network switching, wireless Network technology, Firewall technology, SD-WANProduct knowledge for major satellite equipment manufacturers such as Intellian, Seatel, iDirect and Comtech product knowledgeMicrowave Communications NetworksSCADA Systems IntegrationTroposcatter CommunicationsSatellite modem installation and commissioning such as iDirect IOM, Newtec DVB-ACMDWDM Engineering and InstallationCarrier Wi-Fi architecture for 4G/5G traffic offloads for Aero/Maritime and Mobile Network Operator servicesPerforms customer requirements analysis and maintains product roadmapLeads partner SATCOM equipment evaluation, integration and procurement activitiesManages Product Quality and Configuration Management activitiesCoordinates systems acceptance testing for satellite connectivity solutionsSpecifies equipment, generates, and issues purchase requisitions for equipment and servicesManages engineering activities to include transmission planning, link budget analysis, network design, budgetary pricing, network enhancements, and technical briefingsSupports RFP responses including requirements, compliance and gap analysisDeep understanding of with link budget analysisStrong knowledge in various network security technologyGood understanding of routing and switching protocols, wireless standardsExcellent presentation and communication skills requiredWorking knowledge of Satellite RF sub-systems (Block Up Converters, LNBs, antennas)Strong leadership skills of highly role’s base salary is $115,000 – $130,000. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.At Carnival, your total rewards package is much more than your base salary.
