Business systems analyst (Data Governance & Insurance/Financial background ) | W2 Only

Job Title: Business Data Analyst Location: Remote Contract: W2 Only | No C2C/Visa Sponsorship Schedule: Flexible 40-hour workweek (e.g., 8–5, 9–6) Position Overview: We are seeking a Business Data Analyst to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This role is an even blend of business analysis (50%) and data analysis (50%), ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, technical acumen, and a passion for working with data. The ideal candidate is self-driven, detail-oriented, and experienced in data validation, SQL, and Python scripting. You'll be working closely with business analysts, ETL and data management teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across the organization. Key Responsibilities: • Analyze and validate data using SQL and Python (e.g., Jupyter Notebooks). • Collaborate with ETL and data management teams on data consolidation and governance initiatives. • Support Data Governance Council by facilitating meetings, documenting decisions, and maintaining data governance scorecards. • Create and maintain data dictionaries, data definitions, lineage, and classifications across systems. • Assist in establishing and enforcing data governance standards, compliance rules, and data capture processes. • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data needs and communicate findings effectively. • Troubleshoot data issues, identify anomalies, and propose technical and procedural improvements. • Research, evaluate, and validate new structured/unstructured data sources to support business goals. Required Qualifications: • 4–6 years of experience in data analysis, data governance, or business systems analysis • Proficient in SQL and Python for data querying and validation • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift), and Jupyter Notebooks • Strong understanding of data management, data profiling, and data lineage • Familiarity with tools like Salesforce, Master Data Management (MDM), and Data Cataloging platforms • Experience in creating and maintaining data documentation and governance artifacts • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders Preferred Skills: • Industry experience in data-heavy environments • Knowledge of ETL pipelines and data warehousing concepts • Prior experience working with Data Governance frameworks or councils Apply tot his job
