Business Development Representative
BrainPOP is a trusted source of engaging learning experiences for kids, reaching millions of students across the U.S. They are seeking a Business Development Representative to proactively execute outbound prospecting strategies, fuel the sales pipeline, and accelerate revenue growth. The role involves researching market trends, qualifying leads, and booking meetings to support the Sales and Success teams.ResponsibilitiesProactively Research: state based trends and legislation, industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to inform outbound strategyHunt and Prospect: Execute high-volume, multi-channel outbound prospecting sequences (calls, email, social) to relentlessly pursue new logo acquisition and expansion opportunitiesQualify Deeply: Lead initial discovery conversations to rigorously qualify all outbound leads, utilizing predefined BANT criteria to ensure high-quality pipeline generation for the Sales/Success teamsPipeline Generation: Consistently book and coordinate high-value meetings and brief product demonstrations, maintaining a predictable cadence of qualified opportunities that directly contribute to the quarterly pipeline quotaSchedule and coordinate meetings: Including brief product demonstrations for the sales/success teamTravel & Engage: Be willing and able to travel to target territories (10-20%) to build relationships and secure new business opportunitiesMaintain CRM Hygiene: Accurately document and track 100% of lead qualification and prospecting activity in Salesforce, our CRM system, ensuring data integrity for metric tracking and forecastingStrategic Alignment: Collaborate closely with Sales, Success, and Regional Heads of Sales/Success leadership to optimize campaign effectiveness, refine market penetration strategies, and provide critical, real-time prospect feedbackMarket Mastery: Proactively research and analyze industry trends, competitor movements, and market developments to inform daily outreach strategyContinuous Learning : Engage in regular, focused training and development to continuously refine prospecting techniques, BDR best practices and BrainPOP product knowledge; optimize systems and tools to improve productivitySkillsBachelor's degree preferred; Business, Marketing, Communications, Education, or a related field1+ years of proven experience in a metrics driven sales or business development role, preferably within the EdTech industryStrong understanding of the education sector and familiarity with educational technologies strongly preferredProficient in using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and other sales tools (Gong Engage)Strong focus on metricsHunter mentalityAbility to travel (10-20%) to engage with prospectsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in time managementStrong critical-thinking and a proactive approach to overcoming complex prospecting challengesPersuasive and confident communicator who quickly builds rapportExcited to contribute to BrainPOP's mission of empowering kids to shape the world around themAble to travel: 10-20% in territoryBachelor's degree preferred; Business, Marketing, Communications, Education, or a related fieldStrong understanding of the education sector and familiarity with educational technologies strongly preferredCompany OverviewBrainPOP is a digital educational content creator that supports teachers and engages students.
