Building Automation System Monitoring Technician
Description
We are hiring a BMS Monitoring Technician to remotely monitor and support multiple building automation systems. This is not an IT helpdesk role and not a field technician position. This role requires HVAC understanding, strong judgment, and the ability to identify real system issues before they become failures. Basic level training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
ā¢ Utilize basic computer skills to monitor HVAC controls, analyze data, and generate reports
ā¢ Work with multiple BMS/BAS platforms (Niagara, Honeywell, Trane, Siemens, JCI, etc.)
ā¢ Securely connect to and navigate remote customer sites
ā¢ Assist field technicians with remote troubleshooting of HVAC and controls components
ā¢ Assist customers with BMS adjustments remotely (setpoints, schedules, overrides)
ā¢ Monitor alarms and trends for HVAC equipment: AHUs, RTUs, Boilers, chillers, VAVs, pumps, and associated systems
ā¢ Acknowledge, prioritize, and triage alarms
ā¢ Distinguish nuisance alarms from true faults
ā¢ Identify cause vs symptom
ā¢ Identify faulty components or faulty equipment
ā¢ Escalate issues with clear, actionable documentation
ā¢ Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation
ā¢ Perform approved BAS maintenance tasks remotely (point checks, schedule reviews, alarm maintenance, backups where applicable).
ā¢ Collaborate with team members to implement system upgrades and improvements
ā¢ Collaborate with team members to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively
ā¢ Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and system maintenance activities

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, IES is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $28.85/hr. to $33.65/hr. This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skills sets, experience and training, licensures and certifications, education, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
