The Work:

As a Building Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for executing and managing Chinook’s Implementation projects, ranging in size and complexity, with a focus on building automation systems and mechanical systems. In this role you will functionally report to a Program Manager or Business Team leader for project delivery functions and will assist in business development tasks such as generating fee proposals. This is a client facing role that requires significant client interaction and the coordination and management of both internal and external resources to deliver project expectations, deadlines, and financial expectations. You will direct field personnel, subcontractors, and other technical support staff as needed. Varying project functional areas of expertise may include BAS Design, Design-Build, Renovation, Retro-fit, and modification of building BAS, HVAC, SCADA, Electrical, and Energy Management Systems. Duties also include scheduling, document preparation, inspections and testing, report generation, problem resolution, quality assurance, and assisting in the development of sales opportunities.

This position is REMOTE, but you must be able to travel to client sites at least 50% of the time. Due to the location of the majority of our clients, candidates in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States are preferred, especially candidates in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, review, estimate and purchase BAS and other automation systems, related components, and incorporate them into Energy Solution projects, or on a standalone basis.
• Work with other project managers for required personnel technical resources from within the company.
• Develop and apply risk identification and management tools – that are applicable to the type and complexity of the project.
• Ensure BAS systems are in compliance with client design requirements.
• Liaise with project stakeholders (Building Owners, Contractors, Architects, Engineers, and management) on an ongoing basis.
• Apply Chinook Systems engineering standards as well as industry standards i.e. executing work according to applicable industry standards ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, BCxA to ensure compliance with codes and project quality delivery.
• Set and continually manage project expectations with project team members and other stakeholders.
• Utilize open BAS protocols and communications - BACnet, LON, MODBUS, Ethernet, Web-Services, HTML, and others to achieve client BAS requirements.
• Plan, schedule, and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
• Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
• Prepare and review BAS Automation designs, drawings, bills of materials, diagrams and graphics.
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and develop contingency plans.
• Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of the team, including suppliers, subcontractors and teaming partners.
• Program control systems from Sequence of Operation.
• Demonstrate your character through your punctuality, reliability and trustworthiness.
• Work independently and maintain workflows.
• Effectively prioritize work and display sound judgment.
• Express your strong communication skills by disseminating information in writing and verbally across the organization as well as with our customers.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and at least 7 years of continuous experience performing implementation of Building Automation projects. An additional 4 years of directly related BAS experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience, knowledge or training in Microsoft Networks, HTML, Ethernet/IP, and cybersecurity is required.
• Must have experience with HVAC Control, BAS, Energy Management systems and software.
• Must be highly proficient with the MS Office Suite, and project management applications/packages (MS Project) as well as other risk management tools.
• Must have strong BAS programming, graphics and integration skills.

Citizenship/Clearance Requirements:
• Applicants for employment must be U.S. Citizens and must be able to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret clearance due to our customer requirements and the nature of the work that we do.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with MS Visio.
• Niagara Certification.
• Project Management experience.

Physical Considerations:
• Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, and work both indoors and outdoors in severe weather conditions.
• Must be able to crawl to get to wherever a problem is so that you can see it for yourself.
• This position requires the ability to carry up to 25 lbs., to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, and work both indoors and outdoors in severe weather conditions.
• Must be able to walk construction sites with uneven surfaces and in dust generating environments.
• Applicants must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
