Bioinformatics Scientist I, Translational Medicine

About the position Responsibilities • Apply expert knowledge of molecular and computational biology to generate and interpret results for Foresight’s academic and pharmaceutical partners. • Inform experimental design and provide real-time assessments of assay performance & quality control. • Deliver analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results using cloud-based bioinformatic pipelines. • Manage multiple simultaneous project timelines and data deliverables. • Identify and communicate cumulative insights to both internal (e.g. computational and experimental teams) and external stakeholders. • Keep Foresight at the forefront of clinical diagnostics by identifying technological improvements through insights gained from accumulating partnership data. Requirements • MS or PhD in data science, computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics or related fields. • At least five years of experience analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data and interpreting results. • Strong data analysis and visualization skills, leveraging relevant Python or R packages (scipy, numpy, matplotlib, pandas, ggplot2, dplyr). • Experience with data management and statistics, demonstrated by a track record of applying these skills to relevant scientific projects. • Proficiency with Python, R, or similar programming languages, comfortability working in a Linux server-based environment, and familiarity with developing code with GitHub. • Ability to work with both computational and experimental scientists in our highly collaborative environment. • Excellent oral and written communication skills for both scientific and general audiences.
