Backend Developer Needed to Build MVP Compliance Reminder System (Python/FastAPI + Twilio + PostgreSQL)
Job Description:
We're building the MVP of a SaaS platform that automates compliance tracking for Australian small businesses.
We need an experienced backend developer to help deliver Stage 1 of our MVP, which includes:
Scope of Work:
User Profile Management
Create a user onboarding flow (API-level only)
Store compliance profile settings (e.g., BAS frequency, FBT applicable, FY-end date)
Compliance Logic Engine
Set up logic and database schema to generate fixed statutory obligations (e.g., BAS due 28 Oct, ASIC 388 due 4 months after FY-end)
Populate obligation instances dynamically for each user
Reminder Automation
Daily cron job that checks for obligations due within 7 days
Send SMS reminders via Twilio API
Send email reminders via Resend or SendGrid API
Track whether a reminder was already sent
Tech Stack
Backend: Python + FastAPI (preferred), or Node.js
Database: PostgreSQL (hosted on Railway or Supabase)
Messaging: Twilio for SMS, SendGrid or Resend for email
